General
Are the concerts also streamed live?
We do not currently offer a live stream of our concerts. However, all performances are recorded and will be available later on Bachipedia.
Will the concerts be recorded?
Yes, all performances are documented in sound and image and made available free of charge on Bachipedia. Selected works are also available on CD and DVD in the shop.
How long does a J. S. Bach Foundation concert last?
The introduction to the work lasts 45 minutes. This is followed by a 45-minute break with snacks. The concert usually lasts around 75 minutes. There is no interval during the concert.
Is there an introduction before the concerts?
Yes, there is a 45-minute musical and theological introduction to the work before each concert, organised by Rudolf Lutz and the theologian Niklaus Peter.
Where do the concerts of the J. S. Bach Foundation take place?
The concerts are usually held in important churches in the Appenzell region such as Trogen, Teufen and Speicher as well as in the city of St. Gallen.
How is the J. S. Bach Foundation financed?
The complete performance of J.S. Bach ‘s vocal works is financed exclusively from private funds. The organisation is dependent on contributions from outside to bring the project to a successful conclusion.
Which works does Johann Sebastian Bach’s vocal oeuvre include?
Johann Sebastian Bach ‘s vocal oeuvre comprises over 200 cantatas, six motets, various mass movements, the Passions, the oratorios and the Mass in B minor.
What is the J. S. Bach Foundation and what is its aim?
The J. S. Bach Foundation is dedicated to the complete performance and documentation of the entire vocal oeuvre of Johann Sebastian Bach. The project will run for around 25 years , with monthly cantata performances. The project is scheduled for completion in 2028.

The VAT rates depend on the country of destination. Please refer to the table for the current rates. For exports, the import regulations of the respective country apply.

Yes, all prices include packaging and VAT. For exports, the import regulations of the respective country apply.
Can I return or exchange my order?
Yes, you can return or exchange items within 14 days of receipt, provided they are in unused and original packaging. Please contact our customer service to arrange a return or exchange.
Is cash payment possible?
Yes, cash payment is possible at our office at Museumstrasse 1, 9000 St. Gallen during office hours (please register in advance ) or at the Bach Shop in Trogen on concert evenings.
Which payment methods are accepted in the online shop?
In our online shop, you can pay with major credit cards (Visa, MasterCard), PayPal or Twint. The available payment methods will be displayed during the order process.
Delivery

Yes, all prices include packaging and VAT. For exports, the import regulations of the respective country apply.
What are the shipping costs?
The shipping costs depend on the order value and the shipping destination. Please refer to the table for the exact costs.
How long does the shipping of my order take?
Orders within Switzerland and for Liechtenstein will arrive within 5 days. For orders to an address outside of Switzerland you must expect longer delivery times due to possible customs controls. As a rule, our foreign customers receive their orders orders within one week of dispatch.

Accessibility varies depending on the concert venue. Please enquire in advance or contact us for details on accessibility.

Are there discounts for students or groups?
Yes, we offer discounted tickets for students and special conditions for groups of 10 or more. Please contact us for further information and bookings.
How can I purchase tickets for the upcoming concerts?
You can purchase tickets for upcoming concerts directly via our website. To do so, visit the Upcoming Concerts page, select the desired concert and follow the instructions for purchasing tickets. Support
Are contributions to the J. S. Bach Foundation tax-deductible?
Yes, you can deduct your donations to the J. S. Bach Foundation for tax purposes, provided you are liable for tax in Switzerland. For our supporters in Germany, we have set up the Förderverein Kuratorium J. S. Bach-Stiftung e.V. so that contributions from Germany are also deductible. Contributions from the USA can be made via The Center for American Culture and Ideas (CACI).
What support options are available?
You can support us either with an annually recurring amount as a member of the circle of supporters or with free donations. Our support group offers several categories. You can find all information under “Support”.

Yes, As a member of our circle of supporters or with a free donation, you can contribute to the realisation of the project. Every support helps to preserve Bach’s music for future generations.
